Stock and Nov. 6 ATM straddle as of 1:12 p.m. CT, Thursday, Nov. 5, 2026 (Robinhood: stock $18.125, prior close $21.71, −16.51%; $18 call+put straddle $3.15 ≈ ±17.4%). Aggregator snapshots below are labeled separately — not blended. Re-check before relying on any number.

Key takeaways

  • IREN reports Q1 FY27 (quarter ended Sep. 30, 2026) after today's close; conference call 4:00 p.m. CT.
  • A live Robinhood read at 1:12 p.m. CT put the Nov. 6 $18 ATM straddle at $3.15 (~±17.4%). Aggregator snapshots the same day clustered around ±16–18% (not blended).
  • That is a price on uncertainty, not a forecast of direction.
  • A third-party Microsoft / Childress delay report has been tied to today's slide; IREN has not confirmed it.
  • For neoclouds such as IREN, Nebius ($NBIS) and CoreWeave ($CRWV), markets watch delivery timing as much as GAAP line items.

The setup

IREN (NASDAQ: IREN) said on Oct. 22 that Q1 FY27 results land Thursday, Nov. 5, with a call at 5:00 p.m. ET — 4:00 p.m. CT. Treat "after the close" as the working window.

At 1:12 p.m. CT the stock traded at $18.125, down 16.51% from Wednesday's $21.71 close, after an intraday low near $17.16.

PRISM MarketView summarized a The Information report that Childress, Texas, delays led Microsoft to defer planned capex; peers also fell. That is a third-party account — how much maps to IREN is unclear, and IREN has not confirmed it.

What an ATM straddle is

An at-the-money (ATM) straddle pairs one call and one put with the same strike (near the stock) and the same expiry. The first expiry covering tonight's reaction is the Friday, Nov. 6, 2026 weekly. The call gains if the stock rises; the put gains if it falls. Together, the cost is roughly what options markets charge for a large move either way — the "implied move" as a percent of the share price.

Primary (live): Robinhood at 1:12 p.m. CT showed the Nov. 6 $18 ATM straddle at $3.15 (call mark $1.64 / put mark $1.51) against spot $18.125, or ±17.4% (17.38% unrounded). ATM strike unchanged — no roll. This piece leads with that figure.

Secondary (not blended): MarketChameleon ±17.2% at 10:27 a.m. ET. TipRanks/The Fly ~17.6% / $3.17 (relative "1h ago" when read ~1:10 p.m. CT; no absolute page timestamp). TipRanks morning list (6:05 a.m., TZ unspecified) ~±16.44%. EarningsWatcher snapshots near ±18%. Not citing put/call skew or OI by strike.

Range arithmetic vs. a guarantee

Using the live $3.15 straddle against spot $18.125, a mechanical band is about $14.98–$21.28 (spot ± straddle). A round ±17% tag sketches a similar ~$15–$21 zone. That is range arithmetic — not a promise the stock finishes inside the band.

Three rules of thumb:

  1. No direction. A straddle prices how big, not which way.
  2. Not a wall. Realized moves can undershoot or overshoot.
  3. Typical, not maximum. Many desks treat the figure as a rough one-standard-deviation-style range, not a cap.

Why the tag is large: neocloud delivery

IREN, Nebius and CoreWeave share a model: finance GPU capacity (often with debt and prepayments) and sell it under multi-year contracts. Equity value hinges on getting data centers delivered and accepted on time.

From the Aug. 27 FY26 release: AI Cloud revenue rose to $70.5 million in the June quarter from $33.6 million the prior quarter, while Bitcoin mining revenue fell. Management cited ~$1 billion operating ARR and a $4 billion contracted-ARR target by year-end 2026 — noting GAAP revenue can be materially lower. Horizon 1 at Childress (50 MW) was delivered/accepted in August; later Horizons targeted Q4 CY2026. A third-party delay headline hits that delivery narrative whether or not IREN confirms it tonight.

History: close-to-close vs. peak intraday

Over the last 12 quarters, MarketChameleon put average implied near ±13.4% and average actual close-to-close near ±10.7%, with only one close-to-close print larger than a ~17% tag since 2022. EarningsWatcher often shows actual "beating" implied — but that series frequently uses the peak intraday excursion, a wider stick than close-to-close. August: implied estimates in the low-to-high teens by source; actual close-to-close about −12.5%.

IV crush

After the news, option prices can fall even when the stock moves, because priced-in uncertainty is partly resolved. That is IV crush. Rich premium bought into the print can lose value if the stock travels less than what was priced in — or if volatility decay dominates. Know which clock you are watching: the stock, or the option.

The lesson

Tonight updates the GAAP scorecard. Options have already posted theirs: roughly a ±17% tag through tomorrow's close. Read it as what participants pay around uncertainty — delivery timelines, the mining wind-down, ARR versus GAAP revenue, and Childress commentary — not as a tip on direction.
