Header

  • Ticker: NVDA
  • Theme: Price labels vs business facts after sliding through the 20% line
  • Next hard date: Tue Nov 17 earnings (2 PM PT / 4 PM CT call window per IR)

What changed

  • Price crossed the $194.70 20% line measured from the Oct 6 $243.37 intraday high (and also the close-based $191.39 line from the Oct 6 close).
  • Midday Thursday print near $183 put the stock roughly 25% below that high and well under the ~$204.67 200-day average (vendor-dependent).
  • Broader AI-linked names and QQQ sold off hard in the same session — this was not an isolated single-name whisper.

What didn’t change

  • A bear-market label is still a definition of how far price has already fallen — not a forecast.
  • The 200-day can whipsaw: on / below / above / below again across Oct 30–Nov 4 before Thursday’s clearer gap.
  • “Five losing weeks” is not locked until Friday Nov 6 closes below the Oct 30 week’s $204.64 (four completed down weeks so far).
  • Forward multiples move with the price even when the earnings model has not been rewritten yet.
  • Apple / Nvidia “most valuable” headlines can flip within days and still aren’t an investment case.

Watch next (Members checklist)

  1. Definition check: Are you measuring the 20% line from the intraday high or the close? Write which one you use.
  2. Horizon check: Days vs years — does a 25% drawdown force a process break, or is it inside your plan?
  3. Thesis check: Does the reason you own (or follow) NVDA still match the business, independent of the label?
  4. Friday close: Does this become a fifth losing week, or does the partial week reverse?
  5. Nov 17 print: Revenue & gross margin vs company guidance; January outlook; large-customer / supply commentary; China compute assumption still “none” unless updated.
